Fort Greene Preparatory Academy is a public middle school committed to providing an education of excellence that allows each student to develop intellectual independence, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility towards others both within the school and throughout the larger community.

Vision

The school will graduate future leaders, decision-makers and innovators empowered to solve the problems of the 21st Century. To meet this challenge, a rigorous inquiry-based curriculum will push students from foundational knowledge towards the problem solving and critical thinking necessary for success in college and beyond.​

​The School & Community 

Fort Greene Prep is a place where every student is seen, heard and valued.  Our students are supported in a small school environment where they are known well by caring adults.  We believe we are better together and build into our curriculum and daily experiences time to deepen our community connections, learn about each other, and solve problems together.

 

While our community is small, our program offerings are big.  Driven by student voice and choice, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of programs both during the school day and after school.  One of our greatest joys is celebrating the diverse community that makes up Fort Greene Prep.  Whether it is the music playing in our hallways aligned to our monthly themes, sharing community feasts, or acknowledging the brilliance of our scholars, there is always something to celebrate at Fort Greene Prep.  At FGPA our students are able to find a pathway that celebrates their interests & individuality, and a place they can call home. ​
