The following positions are open for next school year. If you have the time, skill sets and interest, please consider filling one of these openings!

Board Roles + FAQ’s: 

  

How long is the Executive Board term? 

Positions usually hold a one year term from July 1st to June 30th.

Meetings are held once a month on a Thursday

All positions are open to eligible candidates.

For detailed information about PTAs, the Chancellor’s A660 Regulations outline all rules and responsibilities of PTAs. 

  

Summary of Positions:  

President/Co-Presidents: Presides at all meetings of the association and shall be an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee. Appoint chairpersons of non-standing association committees with the approval of the executive board. Delegates responsibilities to other association members and shall encourage meaningful participation in all parent and school activities. Attends all regular meetings of the presidents’ council and shall be a mandatory member of the School Leadership Team (SLT). Meets regularly with the executive board members in accordance with the bylaws to plan the agendas for the general membership meetings. The President/Co-Presidents shall be one of the eligible signatories on checks. Candidates for Co-president must run on a slate together.  

Vice President:

Assists the President/Co-Presidents and shall assume his/her or their duties in absence or at his/her or their request. The Vice-President shall be one of the signatories on all checks.  

Recording Secretary:

Records minutes at all association meetings. Prepare notices, agendas, sign-in sheets and materials for distribution. Prepares and reads the minutes of each association meeting and shall distribute copies of the minutes at the next scheduled meeting for review and approval by the general membership. Maintains custody of the association’s records on school premises. Incorporates all amendments into the bylaws and shall ensure that signed copies of the bylaws with the latest amendments are on file in the principal’s office. Responsible for reviewing, maintaining and responding to all correspondence addressed to the association.

Student Leadership Team (SLT)

​Nominations are open​! Elections for SLT seat will be held on the same day as PTA Elections. May 28, 2026 at 6:00pm on Zoom.

How long is the Executive Board term? 

Positions usually hold a two-year term from July 1st to June 30th.  

  

When does the Board meet?

Meetings are held once a month, which include school leadership: Principal, PTA President, and the UFT representative for Fort Greene Prep.​

How many parents are needed in the SLT?

Three guardians in our school community.
