GET CAUGHT READING! !
Each of our students is asked to keep an independent reading book with them every day. Students are encouraged to use downtime to build reading skills. Fort Greene Prep is adding $10,000 worth of new books to its libraries. Books of all genres are readily available and our libraries include titles written in English, French, and Spanish. Whatever your child is interested in, we can support it. So let's get reading!
Encourage reading at home!
Do a family read--select a book with your child and read it together each night.
Discuss your reading after. Have your child explain what they are reading as part of your nightly check in.
Have family members recommend books to each other
Students "caught reading" will be given incentives to keep up the good work!
Donate your gently used books to PS 46/Fort Greene Prep
We accept books of all grade levels-- Elementary and Middle School. All languages welcome!
STUDENT READING AT FORT GREENE PREP
Our teachers are setting up accounts for students to read thousands of books online at: https://www.getepic.com/
Students can use their student accounts to read thousands of current news articles here: https://newsela.com/signin
All class readings are posted in advance in the google classroom. Students are expected to do their first read prior to class and write down any questions they have about the reading.
Students should see their ELA teachers for login support if needed.
LET'S GET READING!
